Unknown men attack Olumba Olumba virgins, read what they did to the ladies

Premium Times reports that three female ‘virgin’ of the Brotherhood of the Cross and Star have been attacked by unknown gunmen.

The unidentified gunmen reportedly attacked the ladies from the religious sect popularly known as Olumba Olumba in Calabar, Cross Rivers state.

The ladies who were said to be between 20 and 25 are part of the 144,000 members of the sect’s Body of Virgins and were caught up with along Mbupka/Ambo streets at about 5am while going for a morning worship at the BCS’s international headquarters.

According to an anonymous source, the three ladies were on their way to Ambo street from the “Virgins Abode” when the incident occurred.

The source stated: “They had just left their abode and headed for the world headquarters at 34 Ambo Street when some gunmen blocked them.

“The robbers took their money and other valuables and stabbed them before escaping the area. The incident happened a few meters from the world headquarters of the sect.”

Speaking also on the incident, Michael Effiong, who witnessed the attack, said that the unknown gunmen also beat up and stabbed a pregnant woman for screaming.

The man who claimed to be a resident in the neighbourhood, informed further that members of the sect and other residents have suffered incessant attacks by armed bandits in the past.

He stated that on Saturday, at about 7pm, seven young men posing as customers entered Spaks Supermarket along Mbukpa Road near the BCS headquarters and forcefully took possession of sales proceeds and unspecified items at gunpoint.

The head of the BCS, Rowland Obu, had reportedly declared special prayers for God due to the incessant attacks, and asked God to provide alternative means of livelihood for the hoodlums.

Despite the prayers, however, the hoodlums did not desist from terrorising residents of area as well as members of the religious organisation.

The state police commissioner, Henry Fadairo, had also led top officers of the command on a visit to the leader of the sect just so that they can guarantee adequate security, but it has all proved futile.

The Cross River state police public relations officer, John Eluu, whencontacted, informed that the command was aware of the security challenge in the area and had directed the DPO for Mbukpa to increase security measures in the affected areas.
